End of the Year
Well what a year it’s been!
Seeing as we are approaching the end of 2017, I thought this would be a good opportunity to sum up my year.
At the start of the year I set myself a target of 70 gigs, it seemed a bit far-fetched at the time but I set to it anyway and I’m happy to say that I reached 70 about a couple of months ago and by the time the end of the year comes I’ll have done about 90-odd, so I’m pretty proud of that. Of course this resolution of mine has led to me playing a variety of gigs, nights ranging from absolutely amazing to, well, just the plain bizarre! This year has given me some gigs that’ll stay with me forever, but what I’d like to point out is that these gigs would have been nothing if it wasn’t for the folks that came to watch so if you’re reading this then thank you very much, it’s greatly appreciated!
Another subject I think that’s worth mentioning is my single release in October. All in all, it was a success and although it’s only one song it feels great to have some released music. The single release gig at Café Indie was also a highlight of the year, the atmosphere was unlike anything I’ve experienced before. Like I said, it was one of those nights that will stay with me forever. Big thanks to everyone who was there and supported me!
So, onto 2018! I have some rough plans at the minute, as I mentioned in my previous blog I am currently working on an EP. I now have the songs that will be going on it and I have recorded demos for all of them so the next step is to record them properly and then on to another release! I’m really excited to share these songs with everyone so I can’t wait to get that ball rolling. After almost making it to 100 gigs this year I was contemplating making it my target for 2018 but I’ve decided against it and I’ve got other plans instead, after all, it’s just a number. Some of you already know but for those who don’t, work have given me a year off so I fully intend to make the most of it and travel around a bit, hopefully playing gigs further afield as well as around Sunny Scunny!
So on that note, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Cheers for reading and hopefully I will see you before the new year!
P.S. I have two gigs left for this year, one at The Gamekeeper, Scotter on the 22nd and one at The Horn Inn, Messingham on Christmas Eve so get yourselves there!
